STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN IN 2007!

I always have a good feeling about years that end in 7. I tend to think of them as somehow more tuned in to the to the channel i like emanating from the universe. See? i even seem to have a more spiritual and mystical attitude for the "7" years. I had planned to have ready by this time a large group of pieces to show, in the more graphic end of my visual art spectrum. Much work has been started, and will certainly be completed as a series of screenprints on canvas, and some photo prints. However i have become seriously de-railed by an unexpected change in my personal style, and what with my attitude towards years that end in 7, i feel i must explore this new direction and see where it takes me. I have to let my inner abstract expressionist out, and it turns out to let him dabble in oils.



I think it is time to turn this portion of my little web home into a blog. I am doing two things here that i have NEVER done with regards to my art.
1. i am publicly showing works in progress
2. i am speaking and thinking out loud about the thoughts concepts and influences of my work
I have always shied away from explanations of my work, preferring it to speak for itself, or not as the case may be. With art either the viewer likes it or not, and i never wanted to demystify anything i create, as i enjoy a bit of mystery to other peoples work. So here it is, out in the open.

So here it is world, my new unexpected style change, perhaps a maturing of style? not sure, but have to see where it goes. -also, in case anyone is wondering, my main painting influence lately has been Richard Pousette-Dart. I caught the works on paper show a while back in LA at the LACMA, and just last week at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
